Lecture at the Europa Academy on cooperation in 3D printing in China
The Airport Hotel Walldorf, a few kilometers southwest of Frankfurt am Main, was the scene of a presentation on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in which our 3D printing service presented itself to an 8-strong Chinese delegation.
The organizer was the Europa-Akademie (also based in Mörfelden-Walldorf), an association of companies, institutions and universities with the aim of promoting and deepening cooperation between Germany and China in the economic, cultural and scientific fields.
The primary goal of this presentation should be the expansion of our cooperation with Chinese partners, especially in the area of software solutions for 3D printing. In this context, of course, we also presented our 3D online configurator and our 3D calculator. Thanks to their ease of use, both could contribute to the spread of 3D printing in China.
Another concern of our commitment is to intensify consulting in and around 3D printing.
Our presentation
Overview of 3D printing technologies and 3D activation
After a brief presentation of our 3D printing service and our range of services (including corporate structure, business areas and benefits for our customers), we first provided an overview of our 3D printing processes (especially SLS, SLA, FDM and SLM). In addition to the possibilities of 3D printing technologies, a comparison of conventional and additive manufacturing, and the future prospects of 3D printing, our range of CAD modeling and visualization also played a role.
Application areas and projects
Of course, the participants also got to know some of our most important 3D printing projects, from Pia Hinze/MUTED, Fraunhofer EMI/comet model and PRINTYOURSELF/3D selfies to Ruben Zickmann’s “Hans Wurst”. In the area of application, the focus was mainly on the potential of 3D printing in the automotive industry.
3D configurator and 3D calculator
However, the focus of our presentation was on the presentation of our software solutions, in particular the 3D online configurator and the 3D activator. If the 3D online configurator is a tool for the simplified creation of individualized accessories, e.g. mobile phone covers or rings (we reported), the 3D activator (also known as the 3D calculator) should enable customers and customers to select and order 3D models significantly simplify manufacturers.
We will soon report in detail about the functionality and advantages of the 3D Activator in a separate article. Until then, it is best to find out more on our website.
