Our 3D printing service gives an interview on the framework conditions for state economic development in our industry
As already reported in our blog, 3D Activation was the subject of the Metropol business magazine published by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) a few weeks ago. Under the heading “Industry 4.0 in Rhein-Main – The Little Revolutionaries”, our 3D printing service provider was presented as an example of how established forces are being replaced by newcomers.
On this occasion, our managing director Fabian Strohschein not only gave an interview for the “Metropol” magazine itself, but also for the online edition of the FAZ-Rhein-Main. The focus of this interview, which you can read here, was the framework conditions for economic development in Rhine-Main and Hesse.
In 2011, neither banks nor the state helped
In it, Strohschein first emphasized that there was no support from either the state or the banks at the time. “When we started back then, none of the banks asked for financing believed in our business model.” Unlike today, in times like that Industry 4.0 has become a trending topic that politicians like to adorn themselves with, there was no financial support from the state in 2010/11. “We didn’t find any funding programs that suited us,” says Strohschein.
Strohschein is by no means alone in this lawsuit. Since some start-ups from the region are complaining about similar experiences, Roland Lentz, head of the Innovation and Environment division at the Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, comes to the conclusion that the state has presented a praiseworthy “digital strategy”, but its operational implementation is still lacking .
EU funding cannot be accessed
A major weakness of the Hessian digitization strategy is also reflected in the fact that EU funding from the Regional Development Fund is available but cannot be accessed because the state needs one policy hasn’t finished yet. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, which is responsible for this directive, says that they are working “at full speed” on it, but also points out that this is not so easy, since several departments and the Court of Auditors would have to be involved. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the corresponding guideline should be available by the end of the year.
Irrespective of the further development in state economic development, we are of course still there for you without restrictions. Visit our website or contact our customer service.
