Especially with regard to one of the newest and most exciting 3D printing processes, many of our customers ask themselves: Which 3D printing materials are used in the MJF process?
We would therefore like to give you a brief overview of the HP Multi Jet Fusion technology and the 3D materials used.

The HP MJF process
First, let’s take a closer look at HP’s Multi Jet Fusion process. At the heart of this process is printing with 2 liquids, one thermally conductive and the other thermal retardant. As the heat conductor bonds to the object, the inhibitor is applied to its edges. Infrared energy sources then fuse the respective layer above the print bed.
HP developed the MJF process in 2014-16.
Now let’s look at the materials in detail.
HP 3D High Reusability PA 11
This material is especially good for making ductile, high quality parts. At the same time, components made of 3D High Reusability PA 11 offer a high level of reusability. In addition, this material meets the requirements of USP Class I-IV and the FDA guidelines for intact skin surfaces.

BASF Ultrasint 3D TPU01
This material is ideal for flexible, functional components. Basalt Ultrasint 3D TPU01 proves to be as break-resistant as it is heat-resistant.
Vestosint 3D Z2773 PA 12
This is the certified material for HP MJF printers. This is a cost-effective, multi-purpose thermoplastic material for the production of stable components. Vestosint 3D Z2773 PA 12 also enables the design of lightweight structures with fantastic color uniformity.
