Many users forget that AutoCAD introduced Geometric Constraints a few releases ago. These are very important and can be applied to plines as well as lines, arcs or circles. For example, applying a Tangent constraint between an Arc and a Line that forms a pline is a perfect method to make sure you don’t lose the smooth transition between your line and arc!
