The 3rd and final day of the plenary session was dedicated to the hard work of our wonderful and passionate user community. We had the opportunity to find out who were the innovative creators behind the exceptional new products created with SOLIDWORKS.
Suchit Jain, Vice-President Strategy, Community and Business Development of Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS opened the plenary session entitled “Connections to Relationships”. And he confirmed what many already know: SOLIDWORKS is everywhere today.
More than 6 million designers, engineers, students, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and innovators design and create what surrounds us every day. And several of these users have also worked during the Covid-19 pandemic, to transform the production units of medical supplies, for example through 3D printing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
In this regard, Matt Carney and Tej Matel shared their experience. The first operated the platform 3dExperience to connect hundreds of engineers to iterate and develop open source mask models, which everyone has the freedom to improve. Tej, meanwhile, has tackled the issue of sharing information relating to the results of Covid-19 diagnostic tests.
Following up, Marie Planchard, Director of Education and Early Engagement, spoke with two well-known engineers from SOLIDWORKS, who with very different engineering backgrounds and backgrounds, are both in the process of to pass on their know-how to the lifeblood of tomorrow. Eric Beatty teaches his peers as a leader at SWUGN and through SLUGME, the world’s largest gathering of user groups. As for Paul Ventimiglia, he devotes his free hours to the TV show BattleBots in which he supervises one of the competing robotics teams.
Today’s panel discussion brought together a panel of personalities: Brent Bushnell, Co-Founder and Chairman of Two Bit Circus, Nolan Bushnell, Founder and CEO of Atari, Inc. and Chuck E. Cheese, Grant Delgatty, Chairman of the innovation from USC Iovine and Young Academy. Nolan told us the story of Atari’s creation and Brent told us how he capitalized on that experience to develop Two Bit Circus. All agreed that failure is an essential part of the innovation process.
